A daily smoothie has been part of my life for many years now, especially during the last 12 months. For the last year I have been ‘seed cycling’ which is a way of using food as medicine to balance out hormones. Seed cycling was recommended to me by my naturopath to get my hormones more regular to reduce my PMS symptoms which I might add is working very well. If you have never heard of seed cycling before, it involves consuming 4 types of seeds every day. Consume pumpkin seeds and flaxseeds from days 1-14 of your cycle and then sunflower seeds and sesame seeds from days 15-28 of your monthly cycle. So the most convenient way for me to get my seeds in is through my daily smoothie.

Through spring and summer, I was loving my mango and kale smoothie, but as you can imagine - eating the same thing every day can get a little boring! Besides, I am a big believer in varying your diet so you can get some different nutrients in.

So my new favourite smoothie combination is raspberry and banana. Oh, I just love the tartness of the raspberries paired with the sweetness of the banana. You can use fresh berries, but I use frozen as they are cheaper and easily accessible especially when eating so many of them! Raspberries are full of vitamin c which is perfect for boosting the immune system so they can fight off any viruses that may come your way. To my smoothie, I also add some coconut yogurt to add a bit of thickness and probiotics, plus a spoonful of coconut oil which is really good for the gut and skin. Here is the full recipe
